Everton are looking for defensive reinforcements, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is linked with leaving Old Trafford, will not be one of them, according to Alan Myers. On July 26, the Sky Sports journalist responded via X, dismissing interest in the Manchester United defender and suggested that a left-back is on the cards instead. HITC had previously reported on June 26 that the Toffees were interested in the English right-back, who is in the final year of his contract, but Myers claims it is not true. When asked if the club is looking for a left-back and about Wan-Bissaka, the reporter responded, “We are, but not him.” Sean Dyche eyes Everton deals as Vitalii Mykolenko linked with exit

Since Rafa Benitez chose to get away of Lucas Digne three seasons ago, the full-back positions at Goodison Park have been in upheaval throughout the relegation-threatened season. Vitalii Mykolenko has arguably dominated the left-sided position, but Sean Dyche has also used Ashley Young and Ben Godfrey there during his spell at the club.

According to Area Napoli on July 16, the Ukranian has transfer interest from Napoli, so any move away would make the position a top priority, especially because Godfrey is also in Serie A with Atalanta. On the right, there are more choices, but none appear to be established long-term prospects, unless Nathan Patterson’s physical metamorphosis over the summer (Liverpool Echo, 19 July) is expected to impress the manager.

Dyche has never been convinced by the former Rangers full-back and had an embarrassing misunderstanding with him in Portugal last season (Daily Mail, 15 March). Following Godfrey’s departure, the only options are the Scot, 39-year-old Ashley Young, or 35-year-old Seamus Coleman, who both agreed to one-year contract extensions, despite the captain’s worsening injury difficulties. So there is apparent logic in looking for reinforcements on either side of the back line, as well as a third centre-back, and it is somewhat surprising that Wan-Bissaka isn’t on the list given his availability this summer.
