It didn’t take long for the Las Vegas Raiders to stir things up in training camp. On July 25, a fan brought a Kermit the Frog puppet disguised as Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes to practice and shared a video online.
Raiders rookie Trey Taylor took the puppet from the fan and played with it for a short while. The video rapidly went viral online, infuriating many Chiefs supporters. Even Mahomes seemed annoyed by the video and offered his brief opinion on the subject.
“It’s early in the year. Things like that happen. “It’ll be handled when it’s time,” Mahomes stated during his July 26 press conference.
His final comment is clearly alarming, and he did not come off as someone who was simply shrugging it aside. However, it’s difficult to see how Mahomes can improve his performance against the Raiders. He’s 10-2 versus the team in his career, throwing 30 touchdowns and four interceptions. If it takes a seventh-round pick playing with a puppet to encourage him, he’s unlikely to earn three Super Bowl rings.
