Weston McKennie had a dreadful season while on loan at Leeds United from Juventus. It was the season in which the Whites were demoted from the Premier League, and the US international’s performances were not warmly received by some Leeds United supporters. He was sent back to Juventus last summer and forced to train separately while his agent looked for a new team. That did not happen, and McKennie, to his credit, enjoyed a successful season with the Turin club. They didn’t want to keep him, though. This is due in part to his contract expiring in less than a year and there being no agreement to renew it.
According to Tuttosport, a newspaper local to Juventus, Everton have made contact in recent days. Sean Dyche’s side are said to have been in touch, with Everton ‘making enquiries’, that’s likely to find out how much a deal would cost. Tuttosport say Juventus are asking for €15-20m to sell the midfielder, although there’s a chance they’ll need to come down from that. For Everton it wouldn’t exactly be an exciting signing, especially following the player’s failures at Leeds United. However, it’s worth noting that he performed reasonably well last season.
Serie A outfit ‘keen’ on recruiting Leeds United, Wolves and Everton-linked forward
Torino are apparently interested in signing ex-Sheffield United forward Che Adams, who has previously been linked with Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Adams is now officially a free agent, having departed Southampton when his contract expired. His future has been the subject of conjecture for months, and Leeds are among those who have expressed an interest.
The club is believed to have had a long-standing interest in Adams, whom they targeted during Marcelo Bielsa’s leadership in the 2019/20 season. The Scotland international was thought to be back on the club’s radar earlier this year, but his failure to win promotion appeared to dash any hopes of a transfer being completed.
Wolves, Everton, and Nottingham Forest, however, have been connected with the 28-year-old. The latter appeared to be in pole position, but The Sun claims Torino is seeking to overtake the Midlands side. The team is apparently interested in speaking with Adams about providing him a new opportunity in Italy. If the deal is completed, it will be Adams’ first venture outside of England. He began his career in non-league football, playing for Oadby Town and Ilkeston before joining Sheffield United. His next stop was Birmingham City, before signing with Southampton in 2019.
He left the Saints after making 191 appearances and scoring 48 goals. His last appearance was at Wembley Stadium, where he came on as a substitute in the club’s play-off final victory over Leeds.
