Everton ultimately agree to a new Jarrad Branthwaite agreement, according to sources.

Everton have had a lot of interest in Jarrad Branthwaite from other clubs, but he could be offered a new contract at Goodison Park. That’s according to senior journalist Pete O’Rourke, who discussed the central defender on the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast. Several big Premier League clubs have been tracking the England international this summer, with Everton putting a £70 million price tag on him. It’s a transfer saga that’s anticipated to last the entire window, with Everton aiming to put any talk regarding Branthwaite to rest.

A new contract may do it, although the 22-year-old is currently on a long-term contract that could keep him at Goodison until 2027. According to sources, much will rely on the player and whether he sees a future with the Merseyside club. The club may wish to offer him better terms in order to persuade the defender that Everton is his long-term home, but a contract isn’t a top priority right now. Man United has submitted Jarrad Branthwaite’s bid. Manchester United initially bid £35 million with add-ons for Branthwaite, but the Merseyside club rejected the offer.

Football Insider revealed that the club is unwilling to match Everton’s £70 million price tag, preferring to pursue alternative targets. Manchester City is one club that could meet the valuation, with the defending Premier League champions keeping an eye on Branthwaite. According to Football Insider, Manchester City is willing to pay a lot of money to sign him this summer. Everton isn’t simply focused on retaining players this summer; the club has also been busy throughout the transfer window. Yesterday, the Premier League club announced the signing of Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille for £16.9 million.
