Wilfred Ndidi and his compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho are presently without a club; their contracts expired last month. Soccernet.ng reports that Super Eagles star Wilfred Ndidi is about to extend his contract with English Premier League newcomers Leicester City. The Nigerian midfielder’s contract with the Foxes expired on June 30, and he has been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium due to interest from Barcelona, Sevilla, Juventus, and a number of other clubs.
However, Footmercato says that the Nigerian international has secured an arrangement with the East Midlands club to extend his stay. There has been no formal word from the club or Ndidi’s side on his contract extension, but it appears that Ndidi will play a significant role in their return to the EPL. Remember that, under Enzo Maresca’s supervision, the 27-year-old was instrumental in the club’s promotion to the top league, scoring six goals and providing six assists in 36 games. Earlier, Soccernet.ng stated that the Nigerian defensive midfielder rejected Sevilla FC’s €1.5 million annual contract, wanting €4 million to accept any deal.
According to new sources, Leicester City, which previously promised Ndidi a weekly wage of around £75,000, would likely enhance his salary to keep him for another season. As football fans await an official confirmation, the Nigerian star is a free agent without a club and has been extensively linked with a move away from England.
