Jaden Philogene’s future continues to take twists and turns with each passing day, given that a slew of clubs are vying for his signature – and a new bid by Aston Villa has thrown a wrench in the works for a number of clubs, with the Villans activating their match bid clause in a deal to bring him back to the West Midlands.
Philogene grew up in the Aston Villa ranks after being signed from the Pro:Direct academy at the age of 16, and he went on to excel with loan spells at Cardiff City and Stoke City, which allowed him to showcase his ability. However, it was his performances at Hull City last season that really put him on the map, with his pace, cleverness, and directness being praised – and as a result, they have made an 11th-hour attempt to bring him back to Bodymoor Heath. Aston Villa Make Shock Jaden Philogene Moves
According to Romano, despite Ipswich Town and Everton making bids for Philogene, Villa invoked their matching rights provision for their homegrown star following Ipswich’s approach. If Hull receive higher bids for the winger, Villa must decide whether to stay in the hunt for his signature. After selling the winger for £5 million last summer, Villa are clearly keeping an eye on his growth, and considering that they can match any other bid made for his services, it may take a massive offer from interested clubs to knock Villa out of the running whenever the price becomes too high.
Ipswich are still negotiating a deal with Crystal Palace and Everton, with the latter bidding £16 million for his services.
