This entire Jaden Philogene drama has grown boring, and Everton is still unsure where they stand. The Hull City winger, who dominated the Championship last season with 12 goals and six assists, has become a highly sought-after asset. Unsurprisingly, Premier League clubs are sniffing about, but despite the Toffees being by far the most interested, Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town are still very much in the running. And today, we have a new update set to provide a clearer picture of how this saga may conclude.
Alan Myers delivers a current Jaden Philogene update. Given that Everton had agreed to a deal for Philogene, it’s frustrating to see how this story has played out. It makes no sense and has fluctuated without rhyme or reason. Unpredictable, even the great Alan Myers has been perplexed at times, attempting to keep out of the fray before wading in for the first time earlier today.
And his most recent update is lot more assured, as he wrote on X: “Now being told Philogene favours a move to Ipswich Town, go figure!” (As they say in the good old USA)’. Alan Myers has already modified his views on the Philogene issue. Everton cannot afford to be taken for idiots. While they have already demonstrated a fresh savvy this summer with the manner they conduct their transactions, this is concerning. After all, we’ve seen this type of drama play out so frequently over the years, with the Toffees usually paying much too much for a player who was only worth half of what was offloaded.
Even although Philogene has a very high ceiling and would likely want a significant cost in the future after a few years of success in the Premier League, it may not be worth the hassle. Especially when Everton has previously expressed interest in Yaser Asprilla, a solid alternative who has thrived in the Championship. For much too long, the Toffees have been made to appear foolish, with their huge money gradually dwindling.
They cannot afford to take such a risk, and they must not let this story progress any further. If Philogene prefers Ipswich Town, so be it. Everton will cope well without him.
