Tommy Doyle, a Wolves midfielder, has messaged former teammate Iliman Ndiaye after the Senegalese international joined Everton. Doyle praised Ndiaye on his Instagram post [4 July], announcing his arrival at Goodison Park, with the phrase “Congrats, brother”. Ndiaye officially joined Everton on Wednesday on a five-year contract from Marseille worth roughly £15 million, following an impressive career trajectory from his scholar years at Boreham Wood between 2016 and 2019. Doyle, who previously played for Manchester City before joining Wolves permanently this year, was teammates with Ndiaye at Sheffield United, and the new Toffees addition was named to both the PFA and EFL Championship Teams of the Year.

Everton strengthen their offensive options with Ndiaye. The signing of Ndiaye for Everton gives Sean Dyche another project, as the club invests in a youngster with obvious talent who can be honed during the term of his contract on Merseyside. Despite battling for goals at his boyhood club Marseille, whom he moved from Bramall Lane last year, the 24-year-old is shaping into the top attacker he may be.

What Ndiaye needs to do now is show what he can do in the top division in front of expectant fans – and he’ll see his return to England as a fresh start, having never been given a fair chance in the Premier League before. The season back at Marseille will have aided his growth, but at his current age, it is time to provide more consistently, as he did in the Championship with the Blades.

Ndiaye has demonstrated the confidence required for such a swift ascension, and the hard work is already done. With Dyche and experienced players surrounding him at the highest level, the dynamic forward now has all the resources he needs to grow and reach his full potential.
