Everton to make Yousseff Chermiti exit call as new Dominic Calvert-Lewin Transfer Update Everton moved earlier in the summer season to improve Sean Dyche’s offensive options, buying Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille. A new striker was always going to be high on the agenda this summer, given the Toffees’ reliance on Dominic Calvert-Lewin last summer, especially as speculation grew that the Englishman would be leaving.

After being linked with a move to Newcastle earlier in the summer, which did not materialize [Luke Edwards, 24 June], sources say the England international has refused a new contract and wishes to depart before the start of the season [Graeme Bailey, 4 July]. If Calvert-Lewin is able to push his way out of Merseyside, Dyche will once again be devoid of striker options, which could influence what happens to Youseff Chermiti in the coming months. The Portuguese forward drew loan interest in the January transfer window, but Everton’s injury crisis prevented a temporary exit [The Athletic, 14 March].

However, there is a notion that the teenager requires consistent first-team minutes this season to further his development, and if that is not available at Goodison, a loan exit may be on the cards this summer. Will Yousseff Chermiti leave Everton this summer? If Calvert-Lewin leaves, the Toffees may be forced to block Chermiti’s path once more, as he will be one of Dyche’s only three strikers, along with Ndiaye and Beto.

Even if a temporary departure from Merseyside may significantly benefit the young forward’s development following a challenging debut season in the Premier League, it may not be possible due to factors beyond his control. If Calvert-Lewin decides to leave, the Blues should act quickly to replace him with another centre-forward, allowing Chermiti to leave temporarily without leaving Dyche with few options.

But until the former England international’s future is settled, the Toffees will be forced into retaining the Portuguese forward at Goodison for the time with any prospective loan exit now delayed.
