Leicester City competes with Everton for a Moroccan midfielder and the son of an NBA star.

According to reports in France, the Foxes are interested in Amir Richardson, a midfielder for Ligue 1 club Reims, who will represent Morocco at this summer’s Olympics in Paris. Leicester City are interested in Moroccan international Amir Richardson, according to reports in France. L’Equipe reports that City, Everton, and Udinese are the three teams vying for the 22-year-old Reims midfielder. While Richardson still has three years left on his contract with the Ligue 1 club, he is thought to be exploring his options after making only 14 starts last season.

Richardson has a release clause of €10 million (£8.5 million), which has been regarded too exorbitant by those interested. Strasbourg has even pulled out of the race due to this. The defensive midfielder, who is the son of former New York Knicks basketball great Michael Ray Richardson and is 6ft 5in, has an intriguing profile. He appears to be a good ball carrier and, as expected, a strong aerialist.

He was nominated to the Ligue 2 team of the season the previous season after assisting Le Havre to the second-tier title, and now he has a season of top-flight football under his belt as well, even if he did not start consistently. What may aid his cause is that Luka Elsner, the incoming manager at Reims, was his boss at Le Havre.

If City made a bid for Richardson, they would not see much of him during the preseason. He has been named to Morocco’s squad for the Olympic Games in Paris, which will take place from July 24 to August 10. City are short on midfielders with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s departure, but they desperately need attacking options in the center of the pitch right now. As it stands, Steve Cooper has three senior central midfielders to work with: Harry Winks, Hamza Choudhury, and Boubakary Soumare.
