Transfer Saga: Club president answers Leicester City’s £15 million transfer proposal for Copa America standout.

Leicester City’s bid for Paraguayan winger Ramon Sosa has been turned down by his club president. City are thought to have made a £15 million offer for Sosa, who plays for Talleres in Argentina. However, the club’s president, Andres Fasi, is alleged to have told local media: “The offers that have arrived do not satisfy what the player represents.” However, it appears that Talleres is open to a sale. In June, their manager, Walter Ribonetto, stated of Sosa, “Obviously, if given the choice, I would prefer to keep him, but I think it’s difficult because of the situation that clubs often need to sell.”

Sosa has been a standout for his team this year, with seven goals and six assists in 21 appearances. The 24-year-old, who prefers to play off the left wing and cut in on his right foot, has exceptional speed and footwork and is one of Argentina’s most dangerous ball carriers. Several clubs have expressed interest in this. Everton and Newcastle have also expressed interest, and the LA Galaxy made a club-record bid for him in the winter.

Sosa is presently playing for Paraguay in the Copa America, albeit the country was eliminated before their last group game against Costa Rica in the early hours of Wednesday morning. They lost their first two group games to Colombia and Brazil. If Sosa joins City and plays on the left, he will compete with Stephy Mavididi. Mavididi made the position his own as City won the Championship last season, scoring 13 goals in all competitions and trailing only Jamie Vardy in the club’s scoring charts.
