A former New Orleans Saints wide receiver has joined a new team. The Baltimore Ravens announced on Friday that they have reached an agreement with former New Orleans wide receiver Keith Kirkwood. Kirkwood, 29, had spent four seasons with the Saints, split between two stints. He began his college career at Hawaii in 2013, then transferred to Temple for his remaining three seasons. In his final two years at Temple, he had 87 receptions, 1,319 yards, and 11 touchdowns.
Kirkwood joined the Saints after being undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft. He made the roster as an undrafted rookie and appeared in nine games, catching 15 catches for 217 yards and three touchdowns. The next year, he appeared in only one game for the Saints before signing as a restricted free agent with the Carolina Panthers in the 2020 offseason.
Kirkwood spent two seasons with Carolina, appearing in four games and receiving four passes for 30 yards. He would return to the Saints in 2022, having spent the previous two seasons primarily on special teams. Kirkwood had seven receptions for 55 yards and a score in 18 games from 2022 to 2023. Kirkwood joins the Baltimore Ravens, who have a reigning MVP in quarterback Lamar Jackson and finished 21st in passing production last season. He will compete for a spot on the depth chart alongside Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Nelson Agholor, Devontez Walker, Tylan Wallace, and former Saint Deonte Harty.
The Saints were not expected to re-sign Kirkwood entering the summer. In free agency, New Orleans signed wide receivers Cedrick Wilson, Equanimeous St. Brown, and Stanley Morgan Jr., while selecting Pitt Panthers wide receiver Bub Means with a fifth-round pick. Former New Orleans wideouts Michael Thomas and Lynn Bowden Jr. are still available on the free agent market.
