Leicester City will replace their best player with a Polish international midfielder in a swap deal. The Foxes have been working hard behind the scenes with the appointment of Steve Cooper, who was brought in to replace Enzo Maresca, who has since left for Chelsea. Cooper has immediately hired a set-piece coach from Norwich City and is already attempting to expand his squad, with a reported interest in Belgian international Arthur Theate. However, Leicester City is presently facing an appeal for violating Premier League spending restrictions, and they risk violating them again before the PSR deadline on June 30th.
As a result, what has been an uphill battle for Cooper since his arrival at the King Power Stadium is securing the future of a crucial player, who now appears to be on his way out, with a Premier League midfielder included in a swap deal. Leicester City poised to swap Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for Jakub Moder. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored an incredible 26 goals in the 2023/24 season as Leicester City won promotion from the Championship, but their main goal threat is on the decline.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Leicester City and Brighton have agreed to a swap deal for Dewsbury-Hall and Polish player Jakub Moder. Chelsea are also apparently interested in signing the 25-year-old, but Brighton appears to be the most likely suitor, with medicals already scheduled for the Englishman. Moder, who returned to football after a cruciate ligament injury, has battled to establish himself in the Brighton squad, making only six league starts this season.
Will Jakub Moder emulate the talents of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at Leicester City? Moder sustained a long-term injury that sidelined him for 575 days and prevented him from playing the full 2022/23 season. The midfielder has gradually returned to first-team play, but he was a true talent before his injuries. He was an important member of Brighton’s 2021/22 side, which finished just one place behind Leicester in ninth.
He was primarily utilized in midfield for the Seagulls, but he occasionally played on either wing and at fullback. His stint with Lech Poznan also displayed his midfield goalscoring abilities, as he scored nine in 40 games over two seasons before moving to the Premier League. Moder is clearly a player who, when fit, could assist Leicester City achieve their goals, but few would be able to match Dewsbury-Hall’s incredible season. If Leicester want to repeat their success from last season, they will need more firepower than Moder.
