Steve Cooper is trying to make his first signing as Leicester City manager and has been linked with a 24-year-old South American winger.
Steve Cooper is reportedly in talks to make Paraguay winger Ramon Sosa his first signing as Leicester City manager. Sosa, 24, is worth over £15 million and will play for Paraguay at the Copa America this summer in the United States, competing for a starting spot with Newcastle United’s Miguel Almiron and Brighton’s Julio Encisco as they trail Colombia and Brazil in Group D.
Talleres, his Argentine club, is thought to be eager to sell this summer, and The Sun reports that Leicester has spoken with his agents about a trade worth around £15 million. He has already been linked with Newcastle United and Wolves, with reports from South America indicating interest from Everton and Chelsea. Chelsea had scouts at Paraguay’s recent game.
Sosa was labeled “one of the best wingers in Argentine football” by his coach, and after scoring 17 goals and contributing 11 assists in 54 games for the club, it has been admitted that keeping him will be tough for much longer.
He recently stated: “There has been a lot of buzz about the Premier League, which is great because it is a goal of mine. “I hope it comes true.” Talleres manager Walter Ribonetto anticipates the forward to travel to Europe within this window.
He made the statement earlier this month: “Obviously, and if given the choice, I would prefer to keep him, but I think it’s difficult because of the situation that clubs often need to sell.”
