Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has stated that he will join Leicester City on a permanent basis this summer.
The Ghana international joined the Foxes on loan from Portuguese club Sporting CP before the start of last season, with an option to buy. Issahaku was instrumental in Leicester City’s comeback to the Premier League, scoring six goals and providing 13 assists.
However, addressing on the Red Carpet at the Ghana Football Awards, the 20-year-old stated that he will join the club on a permanent basis.
Earlier this year, it was disclosed that the club might activate a €17 million clause if he plays 60% of the games for the Foxes. Despite being under a transfer embargo for violating profit and sustainability regulations during the 2022/23 season, Leicester have decided to keep the promising winger.
Meanwhile, Steadfast FC will receive 50% of the transfer value after Leicester pays the €17 million cost for Issahaku.
Since Sporting CP paid €1.2 million for Issahaku in 2022, the transfer value will be €15.8 million, which will be split between Steadfast and Sporting CP, with both teams earning €7.9 million from the sale.
