According to Dan Plumley, Everton would have to pay millions to sack Sean Dyche this summer due to allegations that Dan Friedkin wants his own manager.

According to Il Messaggero (16 June), the American is likely to complete his takeover of the Toffees after reaching an agreement with Farhad Moshiri over his 94.1% share in the club. However, according to the source, Friedkin is planning a club reorganization that will include new managers, and football finance specialist Plumley estimates Dyche’s removal as manager will cost in the low millions as he enters the final year of his contract.

“I think you’re talking about the millions, probably the low millions, but it’s difficult to judge because we don’t see these compensation fees out there in the public,” he exclusively told the Goodison News network.

“We see one or two high-profile ones, so you’re constantly working with best guesses, and that’s what his contract and discussions will be based on.

“I believe the going rate is millions of dollars.

The cost is likely in the low millions, and it’s important to convey the intended message. It will be an intriguing one to watch when the takeover goes through, because we’re not far from pre-season and plans have been made to move forward next season as well.”

Everton to sack Sean Dyche following Dan Friedkin takeover Friedkin appears to have taken a choice on the manager’s future, which might lead to an immediate schism between the new ownership and the fans.

Dyche accomplished an excellent job in the 2023/24 season, leading the squad to a fifteenth-place finish despite having eight points docked for PSR violations. With those points remaining, they would have finished 11th.

He has also developed a terrific relationship with the fans over his time at the club, and sacking him for no other reason than the owner wanting a shiny new toy in control would be a horrible move. Spending millions of pounds on a new manager while the club’s finances are in such disarray would summarise many things and demonstrate Everton’s lack of commitment to the future.
