According to Football Insider, Everton are interested in signing Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.
Talks between the player and the club are progressing, and the Merseysiders expect to finalise the deal by next week, securing his inclusion in the squad ahead of pre-season.
The 27-year-old is out of contract with Leicester on June 30th and has turned down a new deal despite the club’s recent promotion back to the Premier League
Everton have offered terms to Ndidi, who has stated that he prefers a move to Merseyside and the opportunity to work with their boss Sean Dyche.
Everton is working hard to develop a competitive squad. Ndidi’s experience and quality would make him a valuable addition to Everton’s squad. The Nigerian international has played 192 games in England’s top flight, scoring seven goals and assisting nine times. However, the Leicester midfielder is one of several players Everton is interested in during a busy transfer window. Meanwhile, Football Insider has reported that the club is also mulling a late move to sign Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto.
Despite Everton’s efforts to bolster the squad for next season, Football Insider claimed that the club will need to recuperate £40 million to be inside the allowable profit and sustainability losses limit. If the Toffees fail to achieve this, the club may face another points deduction for the upcoming season, after losing eight last season.
