Done Deal: Everton has secured their first signing of the summer, as verified by sky Sports.

Ashley Young, Everton’s defender, has agreed to extend his contract at Goodison Park, according to reports. Football Insider originally reported on May 27 that the 38-year-old has reached an agreement in principle with the Merseyside giants on a new contract. According to sources, Young is already signing a new 12-month contract after his current one expires at the end of this month.

Everton are anticipated to make the news soon as they continue to prepare for the next season. Ashley Young’s experience is vital to the new Everton deal. Young has extensive Premier League experience, having previously played for Watford, Aston Villa, and Manchester United. After joining Everton on a free transfer from Villa last summer, the 39-cap England international started 27 of his 31 Premier League matches last season.

Young usually played right-back in his debut season at Goodison, but he also played left-back and on the right side of midfield, helping the club avoid relegation. Sean Dyche is thought to have been a significant player in the Merseysiders offering the veteran new terms before he turns 39 next month. Everton are working on a limited transfer budget this summer, as they are set to exceed the profit and sustainability regulations (PSR) once more. However, the Premier League club has been making steps to bring in new players after Football Insider reported that Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam is ready to undergo a medical as he prepares to finalize his move to Goodison.

Everton are also on the verge of signing Jack Harrison, with Football Insider reporting that talks are underway for a second season-long loan transfer for the Leeds United winger.
