TBR Football believes that Leicester City are optimistic in appointing Graham Potter as their new manager following meetings this week. Potter had long been at the top of Leicester’s wishlist following the departure of Enzo Maresca to Chelsea. After speaking with other contenders, notably West Brom’s Carlos Corberan, TBR understands that they increased their interest in the former Chelsea manager.

Graham Potter was on Manchester United’s shortlist. It was understood that Potter, who was in the running to replace Erik Ten Hag at Manchester United, was waiting for the right offer as he considered his options, which included possibly succeeding Gareth Southgate as England manager, but Leicester believe he is now ready to return to club management with them. The ‘amazing’ former Brighton and Hove Albion manager has been out of job since April 2023 and has turned down a number of offers. Ajax, a European powerhouse, was apparently interested in signing him, but he was hesitant.

Graham Potter is the ideal candidate to succeed Enzo Maresca. Potter, whom Pep Guardiola highly regards, would be the ideal manager to succeed Maresca because the two share similar views on how football should be played. As a result, the adjustment to the Englishman’s style should be relatively smooth, providing the Foxes a solid chance of Premier League survival. Potter has also received high accolades for his ability to establish the appropriate culture, which bodes well for the division’s newcomers. Following an uncertain few weeks, excitement is returning to King Power Stadium.
