Dundee United begin search for new academy boss Paul Cowie’s resignation has created an opening for someone fresh to take charge of the Tangerines’ development setup. Dundee United has begun the search for a new academy manager following the departure of Paul Cowie. As of June 18, the Tangerines are accepting applications for the position, which, according to the club, is responsible for ‘the strategic and operational leadership of the Dundee United FC junior program’. Under Mark Ogren’s ownership, the club’s commercial model has shifted back to prioritize the development of young talent.
As a result, the academy director position is critical, and United CEO Luigi Capuano will lead the hunt for Cowie’s successor. Cowie, the brother of Ross County manager Don Cowie, succeeded Andy Goldie as the Tangerines’ top youth coach in 2022, and Courier Sport knows he could be ready to join his brother in Dingwall. The Scottish FA has rated United’s academy as one of the best in the country, and it has retained its ‘CAS Elite’ accreditation for the sixth year running. Last season, thirteen alumni played for the first team, and the club’s U/18 side advanced to the Scottish Youth Cup semi-finals before losing on penalties to Rangers. Candidates have until Friday, June 28 at 5 p.m. to submit their application.
