Leicester City’s ‘transfer embargo lifted’, Premier League restricted Leicester City from appointing new coach.

The Premier League has lifted Leicester City’s transfer restriction, making Graham Potter the bookies’ favourite to replace Chelsea-bound Enzo Maresca. This would be a significant boost for the club and their new manager. Leicester was placed under a registration embargo by the EFL for allegedly violating Profitability & Sustainability Rules (PSR). The team responded aggressively to the Premier League and EFL, stating that they had filed legal action against both. The Premier League also charged the Foxes with allegedly breaking PSR and referred them to an independent commission.

However, the £10 million compensation received from Chelsea for hiring Enzo Maresca as manager “will be booked as pure profit for accounting purposes,” and Leicester are now reportedly sure they will not need to sell players to avoid potential breaches this month. According to The Sun, the Maresca deal is “the equivalent of selling a £50 million player in terms of FFP calculations.”

They were one of five clubs thought to need to sell players in order to generate cash quickly, but that number has now been reduced to four, with Aston Villa, Everton, Newcastle United, and Nottingham Forest all walking a fine line with FFP. Leicester are currently looking for a replacement for Maresca, and former Chelsea manager Graham Potter is emerging as the odds-on favourite. Potter, 49, has been waiting for the proper opportunity since leaving Stamford Bridge in April 2023. He began his management career at Ostersunds in Sweden, and his reputation increased following periods at Swansea and Brighton.

The Foxes are still waiting to see if they will face a points deduction in the top division, which may have a significant impact on their prospects for next season. Next Leicester manager’s latest odds Graham Potter 1/3; Carlos Corberan 5/1; Steve Cooper 6/1; David Moyes 25/1; Ole Gunnar Solksjaer 25/1; Edin Terzic 40/1; Liam Rosenior 40/1; Maurizio Sarri 40/1; Oscar Garcia 40/1; Ruud van Nistelrooy 40/1.
