Carlton Palmer, a former England player and pundit, believes Leicester City’s next manager will not be Carlos Corberan. The West Brom manager has been one of the favourites to replace Enzo Maresca since the Italian’s move to Chelsea, but it is still unknown who the Foxes will target. And Palmer feels the project at the Hawthorns is strong enough to keep Corberan, even in the face of probable financial challenges following City’s return to the Premier League.

Palmer, speaking exclusively to Football League World, said: “Speculation continues to surround Carlos Corberan, the West Bromwich Albion manager, which must be concerning for West Brom fans. There is chatter about him taking charge at Leicester. However, there is no substantial information that Carlos Corberan has discussed a move to Leicester City or any other team.

“Carlos has been talking about the hierarchy at West Brom, and what they’ve been doing in the money that they’ve invested in upgrading the training ground and the fact that they’ve talked about the fact that they’re going to inject some money, and he’s going to be able to do some business in the transfer market.”Obviously, managing in the Premier League would be a fantastic chance for any manager, but Carlos Corberan is not the only name to have been connected with the Leicester post. Graham Potter’s name has been connected with the Leicester post. “This is a concern for West Brom because of Carlos Corberan’s performance last season.”

However, taking over at Leicester would be challenging. “Obviously, they’re going to get some compensation for Maresca.” There is more than £10 million to come in, but they are handicapped by financial fair play. There is talk of selling Dewsbury-Hall. “So, while it’s a magnificent club in the Premier League, I don’t think it’ll be as simple next season at Leicester City.

“Carlos Corberan seems to be happy with the way things are moving at West Brom, and I’m quietly confident that Carlos Corberan will still be the manager of West Bromwich Albion come the start of the new season.”
