Chelsea has announced the appointment of Enzo Maresca as their new head coach, after the Italian left Leicester City. Maresca has only been at the Foxes for one season, but he has taken them back to the Premier League at the first attempt, winning the Championship title along the way. Chelsea’s managers were impressed by his obvious style of play.

The Blues have paid Leicester about £9 million in compensation for the transfer. However, there is an additional figure for six members of staff who he took with him from the King Power Stadium. According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea will compensate the staff members who are departing Leicester. Willy Caballero, Danny Walker, Michele De Bernardin, Marcos Alvarez, Javi Molina, and Roberto Vitiello have all been acknowledged as members of his staff by the club.

Here’s a deeper look at the new staff: Willy Caballero – Assistant Manager The goalkeeper’s name will be most familiar to Chelsea fans, as he formally retired last summer to join Maresca as Leicester’s assistant manager. The Argentine played four years at Stamford Bridge, making 38 appearances. He was a member of the side that won the FA Cup in 2018, the Europa League in 2019, and the Champions League in 2021. He left at the end of his contract the following summer to sign with Southampton, where he remained until his retirement.

Danny Walker, first-team coach Walker formerly worked for Maresca with Manchester City’s Development squad from 2022 to 2022 before joining Peterborough United as Senior Professional Development Phase Lead Coach. Last summer, the 38-year-old joined Maresca as Leicester’s first-team coach.

Michele De Bernardin, goalkeeper coach Maresca was appointed as Leicester’s goalkeeper coach, replacing long-serving Mike Stowell with De Bernardin. He first worked with Maresca at Italian Serie B club Parma. Before joining Maresca at Leicester, he was goalkeeper and first-team coach at Italian club Sampdoria in 2022/23.
