Leicester have been promoted to the Premier League, but they will lose manager Enzo Maresca and face a record-breaking points deduction due to FFP violations. The Foxes have quickly returned to the English top tier, winning the Championship and earned immediate promotion to the Premier League at the first attempt. However, the team is facing some significant challenges ahead of its return to the big time. Enzo Maresca, the title-winning manager, is poised to transfer to Chelsea to replace Mauricio Pochettino, while the club could face a hefty points deduction for alleged financial rule breaches.

According to The Telegraph, Leicester could face a point deduction ranging from six to fifteen. A severe punishment would seriously affect the team’s chances of remaining in the top flight, especially with a new management expected in the summer. Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter and West Brom manager Carlos Corberan are both possibilities to succeed Maresca. Nottingham Forest and Everton have both been docked points for the 2023-24 season in the Premier League. The largest penalty in Premier League history is Portsmouth’s nine-point deduction in the 2009-10 season, which secured their relegation to the Championship.

Leicester are poised to get compensation from Chelsea for Maresca, who leaves after only a year with the Foxes to sign a five-year contract with the Blues. The Foxes will now begin their search for a new manager, who may face an uphill battle to maintain the club in the top division next season.
