Leicester City fans cry as key player open to joining Enzo Maresca at Chelsea.

According to the BBC, Leicester City are dissatisfied with how Enzo Maresca left for Chelsea this summer. Chelsea have appointed the Italian as their next manager, succeeding Mauricio Pochettino, who left at the end of last season. Maresca has signed a five-year contract with Chelsea, with an option for an additional year, following discussions.

Chelsea provided fair compensation for Maresca, who oversaw Leicester’s promotion-winning campaign last season. However, his leaving has left a sour taste in the mouth of the freshly promoted Premier League team. Following the end of last season, Leicester undertook lengthy meetings with Maresca about the difficulties they had. The two teams had a clear knowledge of their approach ahead of their return to the Premier League.

Leicester thought both sides were committed to starting the season together. The Foxes are now looking for a new manager while preparing for life in the Premier League.

The defender was interviewed by DH and discussed his recent excellent season with the Foxes. Starting with the promotion to the Premier League, Faes stressed that everyone at the club understood the importance of returning to the top level as soon as possible. “We didn’t anticipate to go down, so going up right quickly was what we wanted. As a result, the season ended well,” explained Faes.

Faes was then asked if he planned to stay at Leicester City for another season, and he declined to comment. “You never know what could happen in football. If I play well in the Euros, it can move very quickly. It would almost be a luxury problem, because I am extremely happy at Leicester, and getting back into the Premier League is essential to me.” It’s been a while since Faes was connected with leaving Leicester City. Last year, Bologna, Fiorentina, and Torino all attempted to sign him, with Atalanta apparently interested in a January transfer.

With the Foxes back in the Premier League, they will undoubtedly seek a higher price for his departure, thus the list of interested parties is likely to change. The defender, who has a contract with Leicester until 2027, is now valued by Transfermarkt at €20 million.
