Green Bay Packers: Two Second-Year Players Workout Out of State This Offseason.

The Green Bay Packers’ success last season was largely due to their on- and off-field friendship. Quarterback Jordan Love always connected with his wide receivers, regardless of how long they’d been on the team. This is what makes love special. He made it work with whoever was on the Green Bay Packers’ playing roster last season. Jordan Love is ready to elevate his game as he enters his second season as the starting quarterback. Dontayvion Wicks and Jayden Reed, Green Bay Packers’ second-year wide receivers, have formed a bond this offseason.

Reed and Wicks were both rookies for the Packers last season and will be looking to make a difference in their second seasons in the NFL. Jayden Reed was a second-round pick from Michigan State, while Dontayvion Wicks was a fifth-round pick from Virginia. Following the Green Bay Packers’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks decided to rent a four-bedroom house in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and practice together for three months before returning to Green Bay for team workouts. Jayden Reed informed Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated:

“Just the concept of realizing our potential and understanding how much better we can be. That is what we discussed, and that is the objective we set for each other. We hold each other to that level. Getting up to work out. Just, ‘All right, brother.’ “We’re just doing our best.” Dontayvion Wicks is currently classified as the second-team wide receiver. Reed is expected to be one of the starting receivers, with Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs. Wicks also told Huber about working out with Reed in the offseason thus far, saying:

“It went well.” It’s always nice to be with your teammates and brothers and work out together. That was fun. It was a great opportunity to learn from him. Just going over what we did last year and seeing what we can improve on. Reed and Wicks could eventually be the Packers’ top two wide receivers. They combined for 103 receptions, 1,374 yards, and 12 touchdowns. Jayden Reed is more likely than Dontayvion Wicks to reach 1,000 receiving yards this season.

None of the wide receivers on the roster last season had more than 1,000 yards receiving. It is one of the NFL’s deepest wide receiver groups. The friendship formed over the last few months between Reed and Wicks will only help the Green Bay Packers go ahead.
