James Daniels and the Steelers have decided to extend their $45.8 million contract.

 

 

Right guard James Daniels will not be extended by the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to Alan Saunders of Steelers Now.

Daniels informed Saunders that the team assured him that “nothing’s going to happen.”

In 2022, the Chicago Bear inked a three-year, $64 million contract with the Steelers, and during that time, he has likely been the team’s finest offensive lineman.

In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Steelers selected multiple offensive linemen, including Mason McCormick in the fourth round. In light of that decision, it appears the Steelers are giving McCormick a year to learn before promoting him to right guard in 2025.

In 944 offensive snaps last season, Daniels gave up just one sack. The Chicago Bears selected him out of Iowa in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. After the 2024 season, he will be available for grabs.
