Former Leeds United and Huddersfield Town coach Carlos Corberan is one of the front-runners for the Leicester City post. It appears like Enzo Maresca will not be heading the Foxes in the Premier League, with speculations stating that he would succeed Mauricio Pochettino as Chelsea manager. With a return to the top tier just around the corner, Leicester must make the correct decision when it comes to replacing Maresca if he does leave.
Corberan is placed among the early Betvictor frontrunners at 4/1, with only former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper ahead of him. The Spaniard has led West Bromwich Albion since 2022 and has done a fantastic job at The Hawthorns despite difficult conditions. Last season, he led the Baggies to the Championship play-offs, but they were defeated by Southampton in the semi-final.
Corberan had already led Huddersfield to the Championship play-off final in 2022, so this was not his first brush with playoff sorrow. Nottingham Forest won, and it was Corberan’s final game at the helm. He later managed Olympiacos before returning to England to take over at West Brom. Although Huddersfield provided the 41-year-old with his first senior number one opportunity in England, Leeds introduced him to the UK. He started as manager of the club’s under-23 team, where he developed a promising group of young players.
He quickly moved into the senior squad, assisting Marcelo Bielsa as the Whites reached the Premier League in 2020. Since leaving Elland Road, he has been linked with a comeback several times. He was mentioned as a possible target last year, before Leeds handed over the reigns to Javi Gracia in their battle for Premier League survival.
