According to football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is in advanced talks to sign Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor. The Italian manager, recognized for his tactical brilliance and success with players like as Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi, is expected to take either a two-year contract with an option for another year or a three-year contract.
Chelsea picked Maresca as their top candidate to succeed Pochettino and have formally requested permission from Leicester to discuss terms with the 44-year-old coach. An appointment could be confirmed over the next few days, with a value of roughly £10 million. Maresca guided Leicester back to the Premier League just a year after being relegated to the second tier, impressing in the EFL Championship.
Chelsea’s management has taken note of his achievements and is anxious to bring him on board. “Understand Chelsea and Enzo Maresca are set to agree on contract terms,” Romano wrote on his X account. “Two-year contract with option for additional season or three-year contract; this is the final element being clarified. Maresca has already given yes to the Chelsea project; it is now up to the teams to agree on compensation.
If Maresca’s appointment is confirmed, he will sign a contract that is longer than the two-year deal Pochettino signed last summer before his mutual departure from the club last week. This transfer demonstrates Chelsea’s dedication to establishing their managerial position and leveraging Maresca’s tactical experience in order to recover their competitive edge in the Premier League.
