Tua Tagovailoa’s $155 million deal with the Miami Dolphins has been renewed.
In 2023, Tua Tagovailoa demonstrated his ability as an above-average starter by maintaining his health and achieving outstanding results. This performance followed his 2022 season, in which he threw for 3,548 yards and 25 touchdowns, displaying flashes of brilliance. However, it doesn’t appear as though the Miami Dolphins are eager to sign the former No. 5 overall pick. With Tua Tagovailoa, the Fins are considering whether to sign him to a long-term contract. There is talk that Tua’s deal may bring in $50 million a year. It’s possible that the rumors about his declining a contract extension are accurate.
He maintained his impressive performance in 2023 with 4,312 yards and 28 touchdowns. The Dolphins shouldn’t make a snap choice, but those figures beg for a franchise quarterback. It is impossible to overlook his inconsistent play and injury history. Paying the former No. 5 overall pick helps to validate Chris Grier’s attempt to justify selecting Tua over Justin Herbert, as the NFL Media, including ESPN’s Unsportsmanlike, is promoting. Even if Tua has potential, Miami should carefully consider all of its choices before signing a big contract.
