David Prutton has identified an EFL standout who would be an ideal fit for Nottingham Forest.

The Reds are beginning to make arrangements for next season after securing their Premier League status on Sunday.

Forest defeated Burnley, who were already relegated, with Chris Wood scoring twice against his former team.

Nuno Espirito Santo has been linked with Bayern Munich since Sunday, and Forest’s summer appears to be anything from calm.

Prutton has been examining specific transfer situations, and he has identified one player who may be quite beneficial to Forest.

David Prutton feels Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters is perfect for Forest.
Prutton was questioned about if Forest had met their goal this season or if it had been a disappointing campaign.

Naturally, most people thought that was disappointing, but Prutton provided a reality check on the Premier League’s lowest clubs.
He feels that it all comes down to which players clubs can keep and who they can recruit to replace them.

In his response, he endorsed Walker-Peters as the type of player who might come in at Forest and make an impact.

He said on the Forest Focus podcast: “At the bottom of the Premier League, it’s all about who you can keep.

“Take a look at the teams in the Play-Off Final and who will come in for their players.

“Who will come in for Summerville at Leeds, and who will come in for Archie Gray?” Southampton have Kyle Walker-Peters, who is a wonderful talent and would be ideal for Forest.”

Walker-Peters would be excellent, but he’s a longshot.
Even if the Saints do not defeat Leeds in the play-off final this weekend, Forest are unlikely to sign Walker-Peters.

Walker-Peters, a right-sided full-back with wing-back tendencies, earns £36,000 per week at St Mary’s stadium.

That sort of wage would not discourage Forest from making a move, but Southampton would eventually demand a high sum from any club interested in him.

This season, the 27-year-old has made 46 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and assisting three times.

It’s not impossible that Forest will attempt to sign another full-back this summer.

Gonzalo Montiel has returned to Sevilla, leaving Neco Williams as the lone option on the right side.

Walker-Peters has a decent profile from a Forest perspective, but we believe he is a long-shot signing.

Evangelos Marinakis, Nottingham Forest’s owner, is a great fan of a head coach preparing for a European final to replace Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Portuguese incumbent has helped Forest stay in the Premier League this season, but his future remains questionable.
