Mike McDaniel told Harrison Butker something incredibly depressing, which makes him…

‘Whatever you’re going to say, you better believe it,’ Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel told the troubled Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker in response to his contentious statement at a Kansas college graduation earlier this month.

Remarking to reporters on Wednesday during Miami’s third organized team activity of the week, McDaniel initially appeared uneasy when questioned about whether he ‘encourages’ players to discuss their ‘political positions’ among themselves or if he advises them to ‘leave it out of the building.’

During the Benedictine College Class of 2024 commencement speech on May 11, Butker, 28, stated that the majority of women obtaining degrees were likely more eager to get married and have a family than to pursue employment. In an apparent reference to Pride Month, he also spoke of a “deadly sin sort of pride that has a month dedicated to it” and attacked U.S. President Joe Biden’s views on abortion and the Catholic Church’s “dangerous gender policies.”

“Well, I’m glad you asked,” forty-one-year-old McDaniel remarked cynically. If players are unfamiliar with the issue, I believe it is necessary to introduce them to their platform. It’s important for you to realize that the things you say in public have the potential to become a permanent part of you.

“You really have to believe in whatever you’re going to say,” I stress. In order to give people the freedom of choice, you just try to educate them on the consequences of anything they do.
