The latest Leicester City summer transfer news is that a Championship player’s agency has spoken about links with the Foxes.

The agent of Watford’s Yaser Asprilla has reacted to a particular query about transfer interest from Leicester City.

In January 2022, Colombian international Asprilla transferred from hometown club Envigado to the Hornets for a £2.5 million fee. He has since made 86 appearances for English football as an attacking midfielder, scoring eight goals and providing ten assists.

Back in his native land, this amount of experience for someone only 20 years old is causing some excitement, and the youngster has been connected with a move to the Premier League, specifically to recently promoted City. However, when asked about the probable move on local channel Caracol Radio, the player’s agent, Jonathan Restrepo, dismissed any speedy changes.

“No one has contacted us from Leicester,” he affirmed. “There is interest from other Premier clubs and other European countries.”

When asked about Premier League runners-up Arsenal, he responded, “Arsenal have never asked me a question; these are things that the media is putting out.”

This is obviously an interesting development as a fresh name has been introduced into the Foxes’ transfer sphere, since it is one with which they could gain an advantage in negotiations if they occur. This is because Asprilla’s contract at Vicarage Road is set to expire next summer.

Enzo Maresca has dismissed the likelihood of a significant summer transfer haul due to the club’s financial predicament, but he has previously stressed that any departing players must be replaced.

According to Fbref.com, Asprilla ranked eighth in the division for average shot creation actions per 90 minutes in the most recent second-tier campaign, as well as in the 90th percentile among midfielders for progressive carries, successful take-ons, progressive passes received, and penalty area touches.

Second, his representative confirmed that he and his client are looking into opportunities outside of Watford before making a definitive decision this summer.

“It’s no secret to anyone that there are many clubs in Europe interested, bringing forward possible offers that could attract attention and we are analysing and seeing what is best for the player and the club,” Restrepo said.

“We are looking, because the market has just opened and we are going to see what is best for the boy, a good project where he can continue to have continuity and now it will be focused on whether he will be called up to the national team or not, but he has a contract and we will continue to see what is best for him.”
