The Green Bay Packers enjoyed one of the most intriguing offseasons in the NFL. They moved on from several veterans, including David Bakhtiari and Aaron Jones. They also addressed critical positions in free agency, signing Josh Jacobs and Xavier McKinney. However, another free agent revealed today that he chose the Packers over several other offers. The Green Bay Packers got one free agent to sign with them over several other teams.
The Green Bay Packers began their off-season workouts for the 2024 season on Tuesday. AJ Dillon, who signed a fourth-year qualifying deal with Green Bay in free agency, returns from the previous year’s team. Initially, many believed Dillon did not receive much attention on the free market, however it turns out he actually had many more pursuing him than previously thought: AJ Dillon stated that he received other offers in free agency before re-signing with the Packers this offseason. I asked him why returning to the four-year qualifying offer was the greatest option for him.
AJ Dillon will have his work cut out for him in 2024. It’s fantastic that AJ Dillon is a fan favorite and the mayor of Door County, but it’s time to get serious. In the future, AJ Dillon may not carry the ball more than 10 times in a game. When you’ve just spent top cash for an exceptional running back (Josh Jacobs), you give him the ball. Your third-round pick (MarShawn Lloyd) is another extremely promising potential. It will take touches for him to show what he is capable of in this league.
It is probable that Emanuel Wilson and AJ Dillon may compete for clean-up duty at the end of games or during emergencies. Unfortunately, Dillon never established himself as Green Bay’s actual number one rushing back. He will now face an uphill battle to be on the field consistently in 2024.
