The head coach of the Georgia Bulldogs made an odd statement regarding Brianna Patton’s return.
Head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson announced on Monday that Brianna Patton, who has served as Ole Miss’s director of women’s basketball recruiting for the past three years, will rejoin the Lady Bulldog basketball team in Georgia as the director of recruiting operations.
The Conyers, Georgia, native earned a sport management degree from the University of Georgia in 2018. During her time in school, she worked as a manager for the Lady Bulldogs and as a graduate assistant for Coach ABE at UCF.
“Returning to Georgia as the director of recruiting operations is a dream come true,” Patton stated. “As a staff member of Coach ABE at UCF and a graduate of Georgia who worked with this program for numerous years, this is the ideal position for me. I have a particular place in my heart for this university and this team, and I’m excited to join this amazing staff in this job.”
As a member of a historic staff, Patton helped the UCF Knights win their first-ever NCAA Tournament game in 2021–22 and finish with a 26-4 record. With a 13-game winning streak going into the NCAA Tournament, UCF has its longest winning run ever. Patton played a crucial role in daily operations, practices, and game planning as a graduate assistant. She also assisted with the program’s academic advisors and recruitment efforts.
Throughout her three seasons at Ole Miss, Patton assisted the Rebels in bringing in several top-10 recruiting classes.
Patton also spent time as a physical education teacher and coach for the Rockdale County Public Schools and worked as a gameday operations intern for the Atlanta Dream.
