Everton have confirmed that Beto has been released from hospital following medical examinations after being knocked out in their win against Nottingham Forest.
The Premier League match was halted during injury time after Beto and Morgan Gibbs-White collided headfirst.
The game was halted for just under 10 minutes while both players were treated on the ground after colliding in the air while battling for a high ball inside Everton’s half.
Gibbs-White then climbed to his feet and looked to walk off the field to receive more treatment.
But Beto, who appeared to remain prone on the floor for considerably longer after the impact, was taken off the field on a stretcher in the tenth minute of injury time.
Despite the frightening circumstances, the 26-year-old, who was spotted receiving oxygen, raised his thumb to Everton fans inside Goodison Park as he was brought off the field. Gibbs-White, meanwhile, stayed on the pitch.
Everton later stated that Beto was taken to hospital ‘as a precaution after being knocked unconscious.’
‘The early indicators were quite nice and promising. He had come around and was communicating with the physios and medical team, which is excellent news at this early stage,’ Sean Dyche said after the match.
Everton confirmed on Sunday evening that Beto had been cleared to leave the hospital.
‘Beto has now left the hospital after medical examinations were completed,’ a social media statement stated.
Youssef Chermiti replaced the Everton forward, and the Toffees went on to win by two goals, thanks to long-range strikes from Idrissa Gueye and Dwight McNeil.
Everton’s victory, their second in the previous 16 games, moves them four points ahead of Nottingham Forest at the bottom of the table and five clear of Luton at the top of the relegation zone.
It also came after Sean Dyche launched an ardent diatribe to his players last week, declaring that he would ‘not be their fall guy’.
Despite struggling in front of goal this season, Gueye scored a magnificent long-range attempt, hitting a low drive past Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels, to give them the lead after 29 minutes.
In the 76th minute, Dwight McNeil added a second goal with an equally spectacular long-range drive that hit the post.
