Becky Hammon has been named head coach of the Lakers.

After a bit of a delay, we are here to answer your questions about the Lakers. Predictably, the lion’s share of the questions were about the team’s search for a head coach, who they are pursuing and, crucially, who they haven’t targeted. Let’s dig on in!

It’s been a while, guys. Although it was originally intended to publish them every month, postseason coverage took precedence, and the mailbag was neglected.

However, the Lakers are no longer in the playoffs, save for their admirers of LeBron James, so there will be plenty of opportunity for mailbag queries. And a lot of questions are probably going to arise as a coaching search is now ongoing.

So this week, let’s revisit any queries you might have regarding the Lakers, the NBA, or anything else basketball-related.

Any type of basketball-related question is acceptable, including lighthearted, satirical, serious, and easy ones. Just be cordial with them all the way. Also keep in mind that you won’t receive the answers to your queries until Sunday.

What’s happening to Ty Lue? When Leak mentions that we are considering him, he immediately responds that he is not, and the Clippers discuss giving him more time. After that, nothing has happened, with the exception of reports mentioning Lue’s possible interest from the Laker organization. Are negotiations between Lue and the Clippers really that distant? Is the gap big enough for the Lakers to close the gap? Or is this just another iteration of the summertime classic, “use the Lakers as leverage”?

What’s with all of these reports’ lack of affection for Becky? No one else has a resume that even comes close to Bud’s. Have you watched the Aces play? She has head coaching experience, rings on her fingers, and a strong coaching lineage. Although Liberty has talent comparable to the rest of the league, Becky’s squad plays both offensively and defensively at a higher level. I think that smells like sexism, but maybe I’m not seeing it? Are the braids to blame?
