Following a house fire in north St. Louis on Monday, an 18-year-old guy is still unaccounted for.
According to St. Louis fire captain Garon Mosby, the water used to put out the fire froze over due to the extremely cold weather this week, making it impossible to locate the individual.
The fact that the house had hoarding conditions, according to Mosby, made finding Chandler Hill more challenging.
Mother Nature is an adversary to us. Hopefully, we can extend a few warmer days together,” Mosby stated.
A GoFundMe has been established by a family friend for the family with the goal of covering Hill’s memorial ceremonies, expenses, and other essentials.
According to Mosby, Hill will be listed as missing until his body is located. According to Sgt. Charles Wall, the police will assist with the investigation if it is determined that the fire was fatal.
According to Mosby, a woman was saved from one of the apartments, but her grandson, who is eighteen, was lost.
According to Clarice Lipsey, a family friend, Hill is nonverbal and has autism.
According to Mosby, the teenager and his grandmother were inside the residence when it caught fire. He didn’t make it out when his grandmother instructed him to while she tried to put out the fire.
The occupants of the other unit weren’t home when the fire broke out.
For the teen’s mother, Michelle Hill, who works at the Missouri Institute of Mental Health at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Lipsey started a GoFundMe on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the mother of the teenager was not immediately available for comment.
By Thursday morning, the GoFundMe had raised almost $11,000.
