Green Bay Packers’ Starting Wide Receiver May Not Make It To Week One In 2024.

The Green Bay Packers have moved on from a number of wide receivers in recent years. In fact, all of their starting wide receivers for 2024 were drafted in the last several years. Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and Bo Melton were all acquired during or after 2022.

Concerning reports are already surfacing about one former starting wide out who the Packers choose to part ways with.

One former Green Bay Packers starting wide receiver may not make the start of the 2024 season.

According to David Kenyon from Bleacher Report:

New York Jets: Allen Lazard, WR

With Aaron Rodgers’ influence and limited financial savings, I wouldn’t consider Allen Lazard a likely cut. Besides, a strong season from Rodgers may excite his former Green Bay Packers teammate. Nonetheless, Lazard had only 23 catches last year and might be the Jets’ fourth receiver in 2024.

Will Allen Lazard be a member of the New York Jets in Week 1?
In 2023, Lazard had only 311 yards for the Jets, his poorest season of his career. He had 788 yards and six touchdowns the previous season. It came after a performance of more than 500 yards and eight touchdowns.

If his health allows, the 28-year-old should be better than a year ago this season when Rodgers throws him the ball. As the fourth wide receiver in this offense, Lazard should not have as much to do as he did last season.

If he can regain his former form, it will be a considerable upgrade over last year’s unit.

The Jets will most certainly keep him on the roster in Week One to see if that Aaron Rodgers connection remains, but if he continues to perform poorly, he will likely conclude the season as a free agent.
