The Denver Nuggets eliminated the Los Angeles Lakers from the playoffs for the second year in a row, prompting the firing of former head coach Darvin Ham.
Ham’s firing was written on the wall, with rumors circulating throughout the 2023-24 NBA season that he had begun to lose the locker room owing to his lineup decisions and poor in-game management.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis did not appear to show much support for Ham, as both expressed public dissatisfaction with how he operated the team.
James erupted on the court when Ham failed to protest a blatant missed call, while Davis frankly stated that he believed the team lacked direction in stretches following a Game 2 meltdown against the Nuggets.
With Ham gone, the Lakers have been busy looking for a new head coach, and one of the qualities they’ll look for is the ability to command the locker room.
