The St. Louis Cardinals may be sellers at the trade deadline since they are tied for the last spot in the National League Central.

Cardinals star Sonny Gray is “in the conversation” to be traded, according to Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report.

Rymer wrote on May 13 about “panic moves MLB teams must avoid after slow starts,” saying that now was not the time to hang onto Cardinals stock in the hopes that it would increase in value.

After agreeing to a three-year, $75 million contract with the Cardinals in the summer, Gray, 34, has performed admirably during the team’s 17–24 campaign as of May 13. Gray, the 2023 Cy Young runner-up and three-time All-Star, has a 4-2 record with a 2.29 ERA.

In addition, Rymer stated that St. Louis should think about offloading expensive infielders Paul Goldschmidt or Nolan Arenado, reliever Ryan Helsey, and experienced pitchers Kyle Gibson and Kyle Gibson.
