Brian Callahan, who is currently the head coach of the Tennessee Titans, will always be linked to Joe Burrow.

Callahan was the offensive coordinator throughout Burrow’s entire tenure with the Cincinnati Bengals, so the two had a wonderful run of success. In a recent interview with The Athletic’s Robert Mays, the coach compared Burrow to a well-known quarterback he worked with in Denver.

Brian Callahan started as a coaching assistant for the Denver Broncos in 2010, then advanced to offensive assistant. Callahan worked closely with Peyton Manning and had numerous opportunities to observe how the quarterback icon operated.

When Joe Burrow joined the Bengals in 2020, Callahan, whose father, Bill, has worked NFL sidelines since 1995, had already served as the team’s offensive coordinator for a full season. While the quarterback was injured his rookie year, he helped Cincinnati become one of the league’s finest offenses, reaching two AFC Championship Games and one Super Bowl.

Injuries have been the one thing holding Burrow back from actually being one of the game’s greatest players. In his debut year, the quarterback tore his ACL, forcing him to miss the final six games.

Burrow struggled with injuries again in 2023, as a nagging calf condition prevented him from playing to his full capacity to begin the season. Once everything was resolved, he appeared to be his old self for a while, but then he sustained a wrist injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the year. Though he has recently made progress in his rehabilitation, his journey to recovery has not been easy.
