Fairleigh Dickinson makes devastating statement concerning the commitment of Ansley Almonor to the wildcats

Kentucky acquired a major component to its roster on Thursday morning, when Fairleigh Dickinson forward Ansley Almonor committed to the Wildcats.

Almonor made his pledge on his formal visit to Kentucky this week.
Almonor, a 6-foot-7 forward, averaged 16.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game last season. He started 31 games. However, his ability to shoot the ball is the highlight of his total offensive skill set. Last year, he shot 39.4 percent from three and made 93 3-pointers.

His 93 made three-pointers were tied for the most in FDU single-season history.

He has made 180 three-pointers in his three seasons at FDU, giving him a career 38.5 percent mark. In the final two years as a full-time starter, he’s combined to make 168 3s and average 2.5 made 3s a game.

Mark Pope added Almonor to Kentucky’s front court, adding to the team’s front court that includes Amari Williams, Brandon Garrison, and Andrew Carr. Almonor can stretch the floor as a wing and play the small-ball 4 position, creating matchup challenges for opposing teams.

He has one year of eligibility left.

Almonor is Mark Pope’s eighth pledge from the transfer portal to Kentucky.

Kentucky currently has two open scholarships, and Pope has a clear plan for how to use them.
