Prince William praised Aston Villa on securing their first-ever Champions League spot and expressed his eagerness for the upcoming season to begin.
The 41-year-old, who has always supported Villa, has seen multiple games this season, often with his son Prince George in tow. William was ecstatic to see that Unai Emery’s team advanced to Europe’s premier club championship following Tottenham’s Tuesday loss to Manchester City.
Villa, who finished seventh last term, missed out on the Europa Conference League final this season following their 6-2 last four aggregate defeat to Olympiacos, with William present at Villa Park for the first leg. Now, Villa have the chance to mix it with Europe’s top table next season.
The last time Villa competed in UEFA’s premier club tournament was back in 1982/83 before it was rebranded from the European Cup to the Champions League.
