The Green Bay Packers have a bright future ahead of them, owing in part to the 2022 and 2023 NFL Drafts, which yielded multiple players poised to take significant steps forward in 2024. Their 2024 draft class, which will have two representatives at the NFL Rookie Premiere, is also seen with high expectations.
While it is still too early to tell, most Packers supporters believe that general manager Brian Gutekunst had a successful selection for the third year in a row. Fans believe this is a good thing because some of his draft classes prior to 2022 left a lot to be desired. AJ Dillon and Jordan Love are the only two remaining players from the Green Bay Packers’ 2020 NFL Draft.
Gutekunst made huge ripples in the NFL when he traded up to choose Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Of course, this decision surprised everyone, including future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, whose relationship with the team suffered as a result. In the second round that year, Gutekunst chose Boston College running back AJ Dillon. No other players selected by the Packers in that year’s draft are still with the team:
Josiah Deguara Kamal Martin Jon Runyan Junior. Jake Hanson Simon Stepaniak Vernon Scott Jonathan Garvin Of those players, only Deguara, Runyan, and Hanson are still on NFL rosters. Jordan Love and AJ Dillon Became Friends Prior to the 2020 NFL Draft In an interview with Christopher Kuhagen of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Dillon stated that he and Love had lived together and become friends before the Packers selected them in the 2020 NFL Draft.
They signed with the same sports agency before the draft and quickly became buddies. Dillon told Kuhagen, “”We got to know each other extremely well. We had a wonderful friendship before becoming teammates. Came a long distance.” Their friendship extends beyond the field. Love and Dillon have previously collaborated on charity softball games over the offseason to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of America. AJ Dillon wants to help Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers win the Super Bowl.
Every NFL player (supposedly) wants to win the Super Bowl. That should be the goal for all teams, year after year. It definitely is in Green Bay. However, Dillon informed Kurhagen that he does not just want to win the Super Bowl for himself. He intends to do it with and for his friend: “Jordan Love is one of my good buddies. I’ve seen his entire procedure. I want to be there with him and help him out. I’d like to assist you get that ring. “It’s wonderful. I want to be a part of that, to share that experience with one of my greatest friends both on and off the field.
Head coach Matt LaFleur has already indicated that he enjoys the way last year’s team worked together. Dillon accepted less money than he could have received elsewhere to be in Green Bay because here is where he wants to be and win. Green Bay is where his pal resides. Hopefully, they will accomplish the ultimate aim this season and return the Lombardi Trophy to its rightful place.
