Brad Stevens, former head coach of the Boston Celtics from 2013 to 2021 and now President of Basketball Operations, has revealed Derrick White’s future with the team. This news is sure to excite Celtics fans, as White has been a key contributor to the team’s success and deserves more recognition.

Fortunately, Stevens recognizes it.

“We would love to have Derrick for as long as we can. I haven’t been in this profession for long, but that one doesn’t seem like brain surgery to me.” (h/t Inside the Celtics).

Stevens makes an unusual choice of words when he says that keeping the 29-year-old in Massachusetts is not “brain surgery”. This not only describes the enormity of White’s presence on the squad, but it also conveys how easy it is to pay him a large salary.
