Dennis Allen provided the New Orleans Saints with a disheartening update.

The New Orleans Saints spent the offseason searching for their next backup quarterback after Jameis Winston signed with the Cleveland Browns. The Saints signed Kellen Mond and Nathan Peterman, and drafted one in the fifth round. The New Orleans Saints selected a quarterback in the fifth round.

The Saints selected Spencer Rattler in the fifth round, 150th overall, at the 2024 NFL Draft. Because the Saints’ quarterback room was so congested, they had to let one go. The New Orleans Saints have discharged a quarterback. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the Saints have released Kellen Mond. Mond signed with the Saints two weeks prior to the draft.

After choosing Rattler, their overcrowded quarterback room had five players and needed to dismiss one to reduce it to four. Mond has battled to find his place in the NFL. Kellen Mond has battled to find a spot in the NFL. The Minnesota Vikings selected Mond in the third round, 66th overall, of the 2021 NFL Draft. Mond played as the third-stringer in his debut season. He played in one game and completed two of three pass attempts for five yards.

He was released during the final round of roster cuts in his second season with the Vikings. He was claimed by an AFC North squad. Kellen Mond spent the 2022 season and a portion of the 2023 season in the AFC North. The Cleveland Browns claimed Mond from waivers on August 31, 2022. He spent the entire 2022 season as a third-stringer. Mond was released three times during the Browns’ last round of roster cuts in his third season. On October 10, the Indianapolis Colts signed him to the practice squad.
