The Green Bay Packers’ labor doesn’t end with the draft. While they appear to have had a very good draft, many undrafted free agents go on to have outstanding careers. When one undrafted free agent in 2024 signed with the Packers, he received a substantial salary.
The Green Bay Packers guarantee $100,000 for massive offensive tackles. According to journalist Tom Silverstein: The Packers have signed South Florida OT Donovan Jennings to a UDFA contract. He’ll receive a $10,000 SB and a $100,000 guarantee. The Packers are focusing on their offensive line this offseason.
Obviously, releasing OT David Bakhtiari this offseason was a significant move. The Packers selected three offensive linemen in the 2024 NFL Draft, including Jordan Morgan in the first round. When you’re about to sign your next franchise quarterback to a record-breaking contract, strengthening the offensive line becomes a key concern. Jennings’ draft profile indicates that he has some work to do, but there is certainly hope:
Jennings is a collegiate tackle with good stature but below-average length, and he may need to show he can move inside to guard. Jennings will be 25 years old in November and has missed games the previous two seasons due to injuries. He plays with great poise and has quick feet in pass protection. His strong hands allow him to sustain both run and pass blocks. He’s a decent athlete with the flexion to unlock his lower body, but his overall anchor is below average when faced with power rushers. As a late-round backup, Jennings might provide versatility in two positions.
