The Florida Gators experienced their first departure via the NCAA transfer portal during the post-spring transfer window.
According to Jacob Rudner of 247Sports, linebacker Mannie Nunnery will join the portal after one season with the team. Nunnery has one year of eligibility remaining after redshirting in 2019 and receiving an additional free year in 2020 following COVID.
Nunnery started his career in Houston before moving to Florida last season. In four years with the Cougars, he had 81 tackles and seven tackles for loss. He was also a valuable special teams player, blocking three kicks during his stint at Houston.

He joined Florida last season to help add depth to the linebacker corps and make an impact on the special teams unit. He has 28 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and half a sack while making three starts.
Nunnery had already entered the transfer portal following Florida’s 5-7 finish in the winter, but he withdrew in the middle of spring camp. With injuries in the lineup, Nunnery spent the most of spring training as the de facto starter. However, he played with the second team in the spring game and had an interception.
Florida’s scholarship linebackers now include veterans Shemar James and Derek Wingo, reserves RJ Moten and Deuce Spurlock II, sophomores Jaden Robinson and Grayson “Pup” Howard, and early enrollee freshman Myles Graham.
Aaron Chiles, a Class of 2024 signee, is slated to enroll this summer. Chiles was a top-100 recruit, according to 247spots.
