Darvin Ham could possibly earn an NBA position after being dismissed by the Los Angeles Lakers.
Darvin Ham, the former head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, might not be unemployed for long.
Darvin Ham failed as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers during his two-year tenure. He did not always strike a happy medium with the LeBron James-led team.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles’ first-round loss to the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Playoffs this season was the final nail in the figurative coffin.
Despite his shortcomings as a head coach, Ham earned respect at his previous assistant coaching positions. This included stops with the Lakers (2011-13), Atlanta Hawks (2013-18), and Milwaukee Bucks (2018-22).
Could Ham now get back on his feet quickly after being tossed out by the Lakers like day-old bread? It’s starting to appear more realistic.
Charles Lee might bring Darvin Ham on to the Charlotte Hornets staff.
Lee, who formerly worked as an assistant for the Boston Celtics, was recently hired as head coach of the Charlotte Hornets, succeeding Steve Clifford. He will now be filling up his coaching staff.
According to Forbes’ Evan Sidery, Ham is a name to remember as one of Lee’s top assistants in Charlotte.
Overall, this makes a lot of sense. From 2014 to 22, Ham and Lee worked for the Hawks and Bucks under then-head coach Mike Budenholzer. They clearly have a bond with each other.
On a slightly ironic note, Budenholzer has emerged as a leading candidate to succeed Darvin Ham as the Lakers’ coach. That is some full-circle stuff right there.
